What the Schrems II Decision Means for our Customers

On July 16, 2020, the Court of Justice of the European Union (“CJEU”) handed down its much-awaited decision in what has become known as the “Schrems II” case. While companies may no longer use the Privacy Shield as a data transfer mechanism for personal data from the European Economic Area to the United States, Workday employs other valid data transfer mechanisms not affected by today’s ruling.

To help provide clarity on what this ruling means, and what to expect from Workday in our ongoing commitment to cross-border data flows, we have published a Schrems II FAQ.

Plan for Upcoming Changes to Sharing Web Reports
In an upcoming change planned for 2020R2, you will be able to share web reports by individual users, user groups, or levels. Users will see all reports shared with them including empty reports. However, when they run these empty reports, no data will display. This is a change from the current behavior where we remove empty reports for users that do not have access to the data in the report. If your organization has reports with sensitive names or data, act now to prepare for this change. Read Prepare for Upcoming Changes to Sharing Web Reports.
