Reference: Pie and Doughnut Chart Settings

A pie visualizes a data series as a circular chart with slices sized proportionally to represent the data values.
A doughnut visualizes a data series as a circular chart. This chart is similar to a pie chart without the center.
Appearance Settings
Select the Appearance Settings tab on the right to change the appearance for the selected chart.
General
Name
Indicates the chart title.
Character Limit: 50
Show in Presentation Mode
Indicates if users can see for most chart types when viewing the dashboard in presentation mode:
- Off (default): Will not display in presentation mode.
- On: Will display as a separate slides in presentation mode—similar to each chart displaying as separate slides.
Data Labels
Expand the Data Labels section to change display options for data labels.
Data Labels
Indicates whether to show or hide data labels on the chart.
- On: Show data labels
- Off: Hide data labels
Font
Defines the font type and color for this setting.
Labels Type
Indicates if data displays as a percent or a numeric value. Possible Values:
- Percent (%)
- Data
Legend
Provides settings for styling the legend on the chart.
Legend
Shows or hides the legend on a chart.
- On: Show the legend.
- Off: Hide the legend.
Font
Defines the font type and color for this setting.
Conditional Formatting
Settings to define conditional formatting rules. Rule expressions can only reference data series in the chart.
The following describes the fields on the Conditional Formatting dialog when adding or editing a rule:
- Description: A brief description of the rule.
- Expression: A rule that evaluates to true or false. If true, the condition is met and the data is conditional formatted in the color specified. Select
for syntax rules and list of operators.
- Color: Choose a color to format data that meets the condition.
- Series: Choose the data series to apply the rule to.
All fields are required.
Data Settings
Select the Data Settings tab in the right panel to configure settings for the data series.
Accounts
Expand the Accounts menu to view, change, delete or add accounts to the chart. Each account represents a data series on the chart.
Account
Each account in a chart has its own settings. Expand the account to change the settings for the data series.
If you have many data series in your chart, you can reorder them. Select the Handler icon to drag the account to a new location. Select X to remove the account from the chart. The order affects the format and placement of the data series in a chart.
Name
Defines the name of the data series as it will display on the chart. The default label that displays on the chart axis is the name as defined in Accounts plus the version enclosed in parentheses. For example, 6200 Taxes & Benefits(budget).

For area, bar, column, doughnut, funnel, line, pie, and pyramid charts: When editing the name for certain chart types, the version is removed from chart axis label. For example, an edited name will display the account as Taxes & Benefits. Once you edit the name, the version label will no longer display—even if you reset the name back to the default.
Account
Displays the account name added to the chart as a data series.
Version
Indicates the originating data source for the account. You can change the Version for this data series to override the default version set on your instance.
Default: From version selector gets data from version indicated:
For example, you can add a data series twice to a chart and change the version on one to compare data between the two versions.
Filter
Narrows the focus of the analysis by filtering the data by dimensions or dimension members. See Set up Filters on a Chart for more information.
Color
Indicates the color for the data series. The color next to the account settings section represents the color for the data series.
Display Units
Sets the unit format to display.
- Follow Account (default): Uses the display units set from the account.
- #,000,000 (#,##0.#): Displays as millions with one decimal.
- # (#,##0): Displays as thousands with no decimals.
- #,000 (#,##0.#): Displays as thousands with one decimal.
Breakdown
Settings that determine how to break data into granular groups, such as by time (months, quarters, years) or by dimension (level, location, product).

Sorting & Limits
Expand the Sorting & Limiting section to define how to sort and limit data on a chart. You get best sort and limit results with area, bar, column, and line charts when the Breakdown is set to a dimension.

Sort By
Specifies the element to sort by.
- None (default)
- Data Series: Based on accounts or calculations added as data series to the chart
- Dimension: Based on Breakdown selection
Sort Order
Indicates whether to sort data in ascending order or descending order. This option is available when the Sort By is a data series or dimension.
Limits
Indicates how to limit the data that displays in the chart.
- Show all records (default):
- First N
- Last N
- First % N
- Last % N
When any First or Last option is selected, enter a numeric value to indicate the number or percentage to limit by. For example, if you choose Last N and enter 10, the chart will display the last 10 records on the Sort By and Sort Order selections. If you choose First % N and enter 10, the chart will display the first 10% records based on the Sort By and Sort Order selections. If the record set is 100, the chart displays the first 10 records.
Time Settings
Select the Time Settings tab on the right to change data settings for the selected chart.
General Section
Stratum
Sets the time scale for the data set and are based on the calendar setup on your instance. Common values:
- Month
- Quarter
- Year
Span
Indicates the time span:
- Range: Choose the start and end of the range for pinned charts, or set the start and end offset for unpinned charts.
- Single Period: Specify the Data Range (Total Period or To Date). Then select the time period for pinned charts, or set the offset for unpinned charts.
Data Range
For a single period time span, indicates the time over which to calculate the value. Possible values:
- Total Period: Includes all the dates in a period.
- To Date: Includes all dates up to a specific date.
Pin and Unpin Time
Sets time on the chart as pinned or unpinned:
Pin (blue) to set a fixed time period. The period of time for pinned charts is based on the selected stratum. For example, if you select the stratum:
- Month: Choose periods based on month-year.
- Quarter: Choose periods based on quarter-year.
- Year: Choose periods based on the year.
For Single Period spans, set a specific date, such as May 2017. For Range spans, select the start and end dates, such as May 2017 to June 2017.
Unpin (gray) to set time relative to the reference period displayed on the perspective toolbar. Relative time is based on the selected stratum. Select:
- Current: Matches the current reference date.
- Backwards: Adjusts backward by the number you enter.
- Forwards: Adjusts forward by the number you enter.
For Single Period time spans, set the relative time for the chart. For Range time spans, set the relative time for the start and end of the range.
