Sheet Toolbar

The toolbar on sheets changes based on the sheet type.

Data Entry Buttons

Hide Unhide Formula Bar.png Expands or collapses the formula bar. All sheets

The Formula Assistant is a tool to help you construct syntactically-correct formulas. You can use it to insert valid accounts, assumptions, qualifiers, and functions into a formula. 

recalculateFormulas.png Recalculates formulas on all rows and brings isolated sheets back into sync with the rest of your model. Modeled  and cube sheets
Sheet Viewer-Save Submits your changes to the database,. Once you save a sheet,  other users can see your changes when they open this sheet. Other sheets that use the data are also updated.  All sheets
addSplit.png Adds split to the rows.  Active when you select a single cell for an account that allows splits. Standard sheets

Deletes selected split. Active when you select a single cell with a split.  Standard sheets

Renames selected split . Active when you select a single cell with a split. Standard sheets

Adds new row below the selected row.  Modeled sheets
sheetDeleteRow.png Deletes selected rows.  Modeled sheets
copyFormulasMode.png copyValuesMode.png Changes the copy, cut, and paste mode from copyFormulasMode.png Copy Formulas to copyValuesMode.png Copy Values. Click the button to toggle between the two modes.  All sheets

View Buttons

Move dimensions  to different axis and choose dimension values to filter the sheet.  Use this to make multiple changes at once. See Change Sheet View. Cube sheets
Swaps the dimension along the top of the sheet with the dimension down the side of the sheet. This button is only active when there's only one dimension on the  Y-axis (or the rows). See Change Sheet View. Cube sheets
ResetDefaultView.png Restores the sheet to the  initial view specified by the sheet designer or user.   Standard and cube sheets

Changes the sheet view and filters out elements on the sheet so you can focus on the information that is most important to you.  The available display options vary depending on the type of sheet. 

  • Time: Available on any sheet with a time span. Defines time range and set column display options for periods, such as months, quarters, and years. 
  • Version comparison: Standard sheets . View up to three versions of the sheet at once.
  • Sparklines:  Standard and cube sheets . You can choose to display no sparklines (None), line charts, or bar charts. A sparkline is a small graphic designed to give a quick representation of numerical or statistical information.
  • Filter:  Modeled sheets . Filter rows of information based on multiple match criteria. For example, all job titles that begin with VP with a pay rate over $100,000. 
  • Dimension tabs: Cube sheets . A tab for each dimension (including Levels and Accounts) let's you choose which dimensions and dimension values to show in the sheet.   
  • Suppress rows if all zeros or blank: Hides any row with all zeros or blank values. 
  • Set as default for all users:  For users with Model Management Access > Model permissions. Makes your selections the default for all users.

Research Buttons

cellExplorer.png Opens Cell Explorer. This button is only active when a cell contains a value that can be explored. All sheets
reportPrintableView.png Exports data to a spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel (*xls) All Sheets

Sheet Updates Buttons


Erases all unsaved changes you've made . This button does not refresh the data on the sheet to include changes made by other users (see Refresh below).  Best Practice: Use to erase data you have entered.

All Sheets
refreshSheet.png Updates sheet with any new changes which may have been made to the data by other users. Discards any changes you have made prior to saving. Best Practice: Use to see updates made by others. Always save or erase your work first.  
enableChart.png Displays a graphical version of the selected cells. Only available to users with Discovery permissions. Standard sheets


Search field for sheets Enter numbers or words to find matches. Click the up and down arrows to find the next match. All sheets


Level Selector in the sheet's toolbar Dropdown menu with all levels you can access.  In a standard sheet, the selector has a list of accounts if the rows are levels.  Standard and modeled sheets


SheetNotes.png View or add notes to the sheet. Sheet notes are version and level specific.  You can only add notes to a level without sub-levels. If you select a level, you can only see its notes and its sub-level's notes.  All sheets
