Why is my account locked on a Standard Sheet?

Answer

There are a few different settings that could cause an account to be locked on a standard sheet. Below is a list of different scenarios of what could cause a cell to be locked on a standard sheet and which settings to check (in order) in those scenarios.

  1. A single account is locked on a single level on the sheet, but it is editable on a different level.
  2. All accounts are locked on a level, but the accounts are editable at a different level.
    • Check to see if the level (or the parent level) has been submitted to Workflow
    • If the level is not submitted to Workflow, check the customization for sublevels
    • If the customization for sublevels shows the accounts are editable, check to see if the accounts are on a user-assigned sheet that has been submitted to Workflow
  3. A single account is locked on all levels, but other accounts on the sheet are editable.
    • Check to see if the account has been marked as read-only on the sheet
    • Check to see if the account is read-only in the customization for sublevels for all levels
    • If the customization for sublevels shows the account is editable, check to see if the account is on a user-assigned sheet that has been submitted to Workflow
    • Check to see if the account is a parent account with the child accounts suppressed due to the "suppress rows if all zeros" setting
    • Check to see if the account is linked account or if the account is a cube or modeled account being displayed.
    • Check to see if the account is a system account.
  4. All accounts are locked on all levels, but only for specific time periods
    • Check to see if the lock leading months feature is turned on
  5. All accounts are locked on all levels in all time periods
    • Check to see if the Version is locked (or the user has locked access)
    • Check to see if the user has editable sheet access
  6. All accounts on a User-Assigned sheet on all levels are locked
    • Check to see if the sheet has been submitted to workflow
