Set Up an Adaptive Insights Data Source Credential

Explains how to create, edit, and delete a credential for an Adaptive Insights data source.

Contains preview content for the upcoming 2019.3 release.

To use Adaptive Insights as a data source within integration, you must create and select an Adaptive Insights credential. If the username entered in the credential can access a multi-instance environment, you also select the Adaptive Insights instance you want to use. Passwords for Adaptive Insights credentials do not get stored within integration. When you provide a valid Adaptive Insights username and password during authorization an internal token authenticates the user for data source use.

Before You Begin

  • Required Permissions: Data Designer.
  • Acquire the Adaptive Insights username and password
  • Verify the user exists and can log in to the Adaptive Insights instance you want to access.
  • Verify the user has the appropriate permissions in their instance to the areas in Adaptive Insights you need for the loaders you want to create and run.
  • Changing the username within an existing Adaptive Insights Data Source Credential can change the instance code the credential uses. Existing data sources that use the credential could become invalid.

How You Get There

Create a Credential

  1. Expand the Credentials pane in the Component Library
  2. Select Create New Credential.
  3. Select Adaptive Credential and provide a unique name.
  4. Select Create.
  5. Select a Log level:
    • Off: Does not log errors. This is the default log level.
    • Error: Logs only errors.
    • Info: Logs errors and other authorization information.
    • Verbose: Logs all errors and messages for debugging and troubleshooting. This level of logging can create more log information than is typically useful.
  6. Select Authorize in the Actions pane.
  7. Enter an Adaptive Insights username a password.
  8. Select Authorize.
  9. Select the instance if this user exists in a multi-instance environment.
    Save the credential.

Use a Credential

Once you complete your Adaptive Insights credential, you can select it when you set up Adaptive Insights as a data source.

Edit a Credential

  1. Expand the Credentials pane in the Component Library.
  2. Select the menu icon intcomplibicon.png on the credential you want to edit.
  3. Edit the credential settings.
  4. Select Test connection in the Actions pane to verify these credentials work.
  5. Save the credential.

Changing the username within an existing Adaptive Insights Data Source Credential can change the instance code the credential uses. Existing data sources that use the credential could become invalid.

Restrict Who Can Edit a Credential

  1. Expand the Credentials pane in the Component Library.
  2. Select the credential you want to restrict.
  3. Select Grant edit permissions in the Actions pane.
  4. Select the Groups, Roles, or Users who can edit this credential.
  5. Save the permissions.

Delete a Credential

Deleting a credential removes it from every data source using it. You must select another credential or create a new credential for all of those data sources. If you don't provide credentials for the associated data sources, manual and scheduled loaders will not run.

  1. Expand the Credentials pane in the Component Library.
  2. Select the credential you want to delete.
  3. Select Show usages in the Actions pane to review a list of all of the data sources using this credential.
  4. Select the menu icon intcomplibicon.png in the Component Library for the credential you want to delete.
  5. Select Delete.
  6. Confirm that you want to delete.
