Installing the Adaptive Data Agent Service Manager

If you installed a Data Agent prior to December 9, 2016, then you have the Legacy Data Agent.

If you are installing the Legacy Data Agent, see Installing the Legacy Data Agent.

If you are installing the 2017.1 Data Agent, follow the steps below.

You must install the Adaptive Data Agent Service Manager on each PC you will be using Adaptive Integration on.

To install the Adaptive Data Agent Service Manager, follow these steps:

  1. Access the Data Designer by going to Integration > Data Designer.

  2. In the Component Library on the right side of the screen, click Data Agents.
The drop-down list of agents appears.

  3. Click Create New Data Agent.
    The Create New screen appears.

  4. In the Name field, enter a name. (You need to start the agent creation process to access the Adaptive Data Agent Service Manager links, but you can delete the agent you start here if you wish.)

  5. Click Create.
The links for downloading the Adaptive Data Agent Service Manager appear on the screen.

  6. If you intend to use the Scripted Data Source or the Scripted Loader using Pentaho Data Integration, download version 6.x or higher of the Kettle software from http://community.pentaho.com/projects/data-integration/, and extract it to your hard drive. Make note of its location.

By installing Pentaho Kettle and the Kettle ETL Designer (named Spoon),  the Agent Service manages a pool of Kettle ETL execution instances (job runners), each of which is a Java virtual machine running in it's own process. It delegates any Kettle ETL scripts to be launched to a free job runner.

  1. Click on the button to download the Web or Offline installer.
