Numeric Display Settings

The following is an example of a Numeric Display dial:

You can create or edit this dial from the Visual Designer Editors menu or from Edit in Place.

Use Numeric Display Settings to configure the format of the dial and select reference and comparison values: 

Layout Tab

Defines how the elements on this dial are formatted and arranged.

Show Dial Title: Choose to display the title of the dial.

Show Series Header: Choose display the series header, such as 4000 Revenue

Show Variance: Choose to display the variance and variance format:

  • Variance and Variance %
  • Variance Only
  • Variance % only

Show Micro Chart: Choose to display the micro chart.

Reference Value Tab

Defines the scope for base value from which comparisons are made.

Time Period: Define the period for which the metric is evaluated. For example, if you've selected a trailing 2-month time period, the dial will display a metric from the past 2 months.

  • Options from first drop-down Current, Previous, Next, Trailing, Leading. For Trailing or Leading, enter a numeric value to define the scope of time, such as 2 months.
  • Options from last drop-down: From Period Selector, Month, Quarter, Year

Time Offset: If you've selected Previous or Next as the Time Period, enter a numeric value to specify the relative offset based on the Time Offset period: From Period

Selector, Month, Quarter, Year.

Date Range: Choose Total Period or To Date.

Formatting options: Choose the font, font style, color and conditional formatting for this dial.

Comparison Value Tab

Defines the scope for the value that is compared to the reference value. For example, comparing Planned Revenue to Actuals.

Time Period: Choose Current, Previous, or Next. The view-only period is based on the selection from the Reference Value.

Time Offset: If you've select Previous or Next, enter a numeric value to specify the relative offset based on the Time Offset period: From Period Selector, Month, Quarter, Year.

Date Range: Choose Total Period or To Date.

Variance Tab

Defines the scope for evaluating the variance between two data sets.

Choose the font and color for the variance.

Expression: Choose how the variance is calculated:

  • Variance = Reference Value - Comparison Value
  • Variance = Comparison Value - Reference Value
  • Variance = Comparison Value

Format: Choose how to display value:

  • Variance; -Variance
  • Variance; (Variance)

Color Source: Choose to Use the font color or to Use conditional formatting. If conditional

formatting, select the rules and display format.

Variance % Tab

Defines the how to display the variance percentage.

Choose the font and color for the variance percentage and the following options:

Expression: Choose how the variance percentage is calculated:

  • Var% = Variance / Comparison Value * 100
  • Var% = Variance / Reference Value * 100
  • Var% = Reference Value / Comparison Value * 100
  • Var% = Comparison Value / Reference Value * 100

Format: Choose how to display the value. First select the format and then the number of decimal places:

  • Var %; -Var%
  • Var %; (Var %)

Micro Chart Tab

Defines how to display the Numeric Display as a Micro Chart. You must select to show the micro chart from Layout tab. Options include:

Time Period, Time Offset, Breakdown Period Level, Date Range, Accumulate, Chart
