Discovery Quick Tour

Walks you through the new Discovery user interfaces: Perspectives Overview, Perspective Details when viewing, and Perspective Details when editing.

Discovery puts the power of self-service interactive dashboards, visualizations, and charts into your hands. You can:

  • Monitor and drive business performance.
  • Visualize numbers and charts side-by-side.
  • See variances in a waterfall chart, personalize dashboards with your own KPIs, and perform period-over-period analysis.
  • Analyze real-time financial and operational data over time, reach your own conclusions, and apply what you’ve learned to improve your plan.

Basic Building Blocks

Watch: Dashboard Layout (2m:8s)

Perspectives, dashboards, and charts are the building blocks for self-service analytics and a rich data analysis experience. For example, an Executive Summary perspective can have Dashboards for Revenue, Financial Health, and Operations. Each dashboard includes charts that provide insight to that area of the business.

Building blocks for a Perspective, Dashboard, Charts

1 Perspective

A perspective is a group of dashboards and charts, usually focused on a common function such as finance or sales.

2 Dashboard

A dashboard is a container for grouping a series of charts or other data analysis often by a theme or subject.

3 Charts

A chart visualizes your data. Review Chart Types to choose a chart that works best for the information you want to visualize.

Perspectives Overview

The Perspectives Overview is the first page you come to when accessing Discovery. The Perspective Overview displays available perspectives in grid view or list view (shown in the inset). This is your starting point to view dashboards and present data, or  manage perspectives, such as share and collaborate.

The Perspective Details is where you go to view or edit the contents of a perspective, including dashboards and charts.
