How is the trend calculated on a Scorecard?
The trend calculation is based on the start and end points of the Micro Chart Trendline in the dial rather than start and end points of the Micro Chart. To turn on the Micro Chart Trendline, users can take the following steps.
- Go to the Visual Designer in Discovery
- Select the Scorecard dial
- Click on the Analysis Settings
- Select Micro Cart Trendline in the Default Analysis View field
The Micro Chart Trendline shows the value of the linear regression over time. After displaying the Micro Chart Trendline in the dial, users can find the start and end values by hovering the pointer over the trendline at each end (see screenshots). Be careful not to select the Actuals values line in the micro chart. The calculation to find the trend is below.

In the example in the screenshots belo, we are viewing the trend over 12 months. The starting value of the Product GM% Account trendline is 77.4%, and the ending value of the trendline is 106.7%. Using the trend formula, we are able find a trend of 37.9%. This value displays when hovering over the trend icon.
