This session reviewed 3 approaches to the following question:
"I'm trying to create an offsetting entry that sums up the expenses in a specific GL for all levels that have a specific dimension value. The offsetting entry is done in another level that doesn't have that same dimension value."
Option 1 is the least desirable solution (yet the one I see most often) uses a shared formula to offset the data in a specified level.
Option 2 improves on Option 1 by introducing an assumption account to get around performance and privacy issues.
Option 3 leverages the out-of-the-box allocation wizard to get to the same result, but with the added overhead of 2 extra system accounts.
