Setting up Single Sign-On From Salesforce

Customers who use both Salesforce and Adaptive Planning can link them so that Adaptive Planning appears as a tab in Salesforce. This way, users already logged in to Salesforce can access Adaptive Planning with a single click. This topic walks administrative users through setting up single sign-on from Salesforce to Adaptive Planning.

Install the Adaptive Planning tab in Salesforce

  1. Go to the Adaptive Planning listing on the Salesforce AppExchange: https://login.salesforce.com/packaging/installPackage.apexp?p0=04tE0000000TxbU
  2. Click Continue.

Follow the instructions in the application to complete the installation.

Configure SSO for Salesforce

You will need some information from your Salesforce account to configure Salesforce single sign-on in Adaptive Planning.

Get Your Salesforce Security Token

If you don’t already know your Salesforce Security Token, use these steps to get it:

  1. Log in to Salesforce.
  2. Mouse over your name in the upper right corner to display the user menu and click Setup.
  3. Click My Personal Information in the left menu under Personal Setup.
  4. Click Reset your security token.
  5. Click the Reset Security Token button to trigger an email message containing your security token.

Get Your Salesforce Organization ID

If you don’t already know your Salesforce Organization ID, use these steps to get it:

  1. Log in to Salesforce
  2. In Salesforce, mouse over your name in the upper right corner to display the user menu and click Setup.
  3. Click the arrow next to Company Profile in the left menu, under Administration Setup, to expand its menu.
  4. Click Company Information.
  5. Locate your Salesforce Organization ID on the Company Information page and make a note of it.

 Enter Your Salesforce Information in Adaptive Planning

  1. Log in to Adaptive Planning.
  2. Click the Integration link in the upper right corner of the page.
  3. Click the Salesforce Setup tab.

If the Salesforce Setup tab does not appear on your Integration page, contact your Adaptive Planning sales rep to have this feature enabled in your account.

  1. Enter your Salesforce user name, password, security token, and organization ID.
  2. Click Save.

Enable Users for SSO

  1. Log in to Adaptive Planning.
  2. In Adaptive Planning, click Edit User on the Administration page.
  3. Enable each user to use single sign-on into Adaptive Planning by entering their Salesforce user name in the Edit User page for the user:
    1. Click Edit next to the user’s name.
    2. In the User Details section, enter their Salesforce user name in the Salesforce User Name field.
    3. Click Submit.

Conclusion

Once all the steps above have been completed, the Salesforce and Adaptive Planning instances are linked and all users whose Salesforce user name has been entered into Adaptive Planning can log in to Salesforce and access Adaptive Planning through the Adaptive Planning tab in Salesforce.

The Adaptive Planning tab may need to be added as a user preference. Initially, Adaptive Planning will show up as an available app in the app menu in the upper right of the Salesforce screen.
